Areas of Concentration

Jessica Taran has over 20 years of experience in representing individuals and entities in a variety of litigation matters, including those involving breach of commercial and real estate contracts, breach of fiduciary duty, securities violations, libel, defamation, trademark, and copyright infringement.  Ms. Taran practices in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitral forums.  Her practice also includes general counsel services to businesses, including entity formation and financing, business transactions, intellectual property, and employment matters.

Ms. Taran has also developed a niche practice in complex judgment enforcement matters, assisting clients with recovery of judgments in commercial, breach of contract, employment, and family law matters.  

Ms. Taran is fluent in Russian and regularly counsels Russian-speaking clients based in the United States and abroad. 

Prior to joining Niesar Vestal LLP, Ms. Taran had a solo practice in San Francisco for ten years.  Prior to embarking on her successful solo career, Ms. Taran was an associate at the New York firm Wilk Auslander LLP.

Representative Matters

• Assisted in representation of a hedge fund in connection with enforcement of a $30 million judgment against a former chief executive officer.
• Successfully represented shareholders and cofounders in their dispute with a former chief executive officer and cofounder, resulting in a significant arbitration award.
• Successfully recovered on a judgment against a defunct entity by levying on a small private plane.
• Prevailed on an investor’s claim for breach of promissory note and recovered against defendant entity by obtaining an assignment of a patent.
• Assisting production companies with various commercial agreements.
• Assisting a members only club in San Francisco with obtaining necessary licensure.
